Our Story

Maple Street Street Food Co. began as a small collaboration between three Toronto chefs and a group of local vendors who wanted to celebrate Canadian ingredients in an accessible, street-friendly format. Our mission is to connect neighbours and visitors to regional flavours through approachable dishes served from mobile kitchens, carts and market stalls. We focus on telling stories through food: the farmers who grow our produce, the fishers who supply the coast, and the cultural traditions that have shaped Canada’s evolving culinary scene. We started hosting weekend pop-ups and small community events, and rapidly built partnerships with city markets, local parks teams and event planners who value thoughtful, fast service with high-quality ingredients. Our collective now includes chefs experienced in smoking, grilling and baking, and vendors with deep knowledge of heritage dishes. Together we create menus that are seasonal, crowd-pleasing and respectful of regional and Indigenous culinary traditions.

How We Work

Our vendor collective operates through a combination of rotating pop-ups and scheduled neighbourhood appearances. Each vendor agrees to a set of standards that cover food safety, portion transparency, and ingredient sourcing. We prioritize partnerships with Ontario and Atlantic producers when possible, and we aim to minimize waste by using compostable packaging and portion planning that matches expected demand. Our operations team coordinates logistics so vendors can focus on craft: site permits, power, waste stations and traffic flow are handled centrally. For private events and catering, we offer modular setups tailored to group size, access and dietary needs. We also run training workshops for vendors that include safe food handling, allergy awareness and efficient service during busy periods. Transparency is central to our approach: menus clearly mark allergens, contain provenance notes when relevant, and include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-aware options. This approach delivers consistent, elevated street food experiences while supporting small businesses across our collective.

Community and Events

Community connection is the heart of Maple Street. We collaborate with neighbourhood associations, charities and local festivals to provide food that feeds both body and community spirit. Our team organizes donation drives at larger events, provides subsidized vendor spots for early-stage food entrepreneurs, and works with Indigenous partners to ensure cultural foods are represented authentically and respectfully. We host seasonal workshops that invite community members behind the scenes to learn about sustainable sourcing and small-scale food entrepreneurship. Our public events are intentionally family-friendly and accessible: menus are priced to encourage sharing, and we maintain clear signage for dietary choices. For private bookings, we consult with hosts to create menus that reflect event tone and guest needs while sourcing locally. We believe that inclusive, well-run food experiences build stronger neighbourhoods and lasting relationships between producers, cooks and patrons.
